Repeat Prescriptions

We do not accept requests for repeat prescriptions via the telephone. This is to avoid errors and prolonged engagement of the telephone lines.

Please give 48 hours notice when placing repeat prescriptions in the box provided at reception. Allow at least 5 working days when sending by post.

The easiest way to get your prescriptions is online via the NHS App and Patient access App alternatively via your nominated Pharmacy or online Pharmacy App – Please advise us which Pharmacy you wish to use, this information will be added to your record.

You are welcome to send us an email with your details and request for repeat medication to nelondonicb.bmgprx@nhs.net  or drop off your repeat prescription request at your surgery in person.

Do not wait until you are out of medication before requesting a repeat prescription.

Please see in practice for collection times.

If you are not collecting from the surgery please supply a stamped addressed return envelope or alternatively you can collect if requested from a local chemist.

Housebound patients – Please enquire about the option to receive medication direct from the local pharmacy.

Unused prescription medicine cost the NHS in London an estimated £39.4million every year. Remember...only order what you need and help us make more of your local NHS.

Online Prescriptions

This allows patients to request repeat prescriptions from the comfort of their own home.  Without visiting the practice, patients can use the internet to quickly order any repeat prescriptions that are due.  The request comes directly to the practice, and once processed, patients can simply collect the prescription from the practice or it can be sent to the pharmacy of their choice.

A visit to the surgery to register online is all that's required.

Prescription Fees

Help with NHS costs

In England, around 90% of prescription items are dispensed free. This includes exemptions from charging for those on low incomes, such as:

  • those on specific benefits or through the NHS Low Income Scheme
  • those who are age exempt
  • those with certain medical conditions
  • More information is available at NHS Choices

NHS Charges

These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.

  • Prescription (per item): £9.65
  • 12-month prepayment certificate (PPC): £111.60
  • 3-month PPC: £31.25

If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months or more than 14 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC.
